Job Description:
Reporting to the Dean for Graduate and Professional Programs (the continuing education unit of Emmanuel College) the role of Associate Dean is to enhance teaching through faculty development and supervision. He/she will: oversee faculty as well as academic affairs operations staff; coordinate the hiring, orientation and development of faculty; provide oversight of the curriculum for undergraduate and graduate degree programs; and increase the use of technology in instruction. The Associate dean is responsible for supervising the Graduate and Professional Programs faculty, Operations Manager, Operations Coordinator, and Data Assistant. He/she will oversee all instruction for campus programs by collaborating with the Director of Advising and Special Projects on course evaluations for program coordination. The essential responsibilities for this position include: - Overseeing faculty development and instruction for Graduate and Professional Programs in collaboration with the Dean and Director of Advising and Special Projects.
- Organizing, managing and implementing the faculty assessment , recruitment process for GPP hiring of new faculty on academic and administrative policies and procedures.
- Planning faculty development days; conducting classroom visits and evaluations for faculty in BSBA, MSM, HRM, Nursing and Education degree programs.
- Demonstrating best teaching practices through peer review/coaching, faculty forums and focus groups.
- Communicating with faculty and the registrar on matters related to course scheduling, course materials, and faculty assignments.
- Identifying faculty and/or other resources necessary to update the syllabi, with guidance from the Dean and Department Chairs and maintaining the electronic faculty resources on the Emmanuel portal.
Requirements:
The experience and educational background sought in candidates for this position include: • Doctorate required; significant college teaching experience required and continuing education experience is preferred. • 8-10 years of experience in higher education. • Experience with curriculum development (including interdisciplinary initiatives) and program assessment. • Capacity with faculty development, hiring and supervision. • Demonstrated competence with instructional technologies. • Experience with the delivery of accelerated and online formats, as well as the development of interdisciplinary degree programs. • Ability to work with faculty throughout the calendar year during evening and weekend hours. SCHEDULE: This position is full-time. The Associate Dean's hours includes evening hours and some Saturdays for faculty support /evaluation in evening, online, and on weekend formats. The Associate Dean will be available for special events such as for online faculty development training sessions and student orientation in continuing education programs.
