| Major Gift Officer

Job Description:
Reporting to the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations, the Major Gift Officer will identify individuals capable of contributing $25,000 or more annually with a focus on alumni who graduated in the '70's, '80's and '90's. Manage a portfolio of prospects and move them through the fund raising cycle of cultivation, solicitation, closing and stewarding gifts.
Essential responsibilities include:
? Effectively steward donors of major gifts including scholarship donors.
? Use creativity and best practices to identify new prospects, including managing prospecting meetings.
? Participate in staff identification meetings
? Regularly report progress to Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving.
? Manage current donors and prospects.
? Build and maintain a portfolio of 150-200 prospects, some assigned by geographic region or class year. Some travel required.
Requirements:
Minimum three years experience in major gift development, preferably at an institution of higher education. Bachelor's degree required.
? Ability to forge strong donor relationships with the goal of soliciting a gift mutually benefiting the College and donor.
? Good knowledge of college, its mission and constituencies
? Sensitivity to confidentiality
? Devise creative donor strategies
? Creative approach to initiating donor relationships.
